Australian Financial Review Higher Education Awards
Professor Chubb has won the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in the 2015 Australian Financial Review Higher Education Awards.
“In his long career Ian Chubb has been a distinguished researcher, an outstanding university leader, an influential policymaker and a powerful advocate to government and the Australian public,” the judges said.
“A person of strong views, he is incisive and constructive in his criticism, and his persuasive arguments for the benefits of higher education, research and scientific literacy have given him a high public profile which is well deserved.
“Underpinning all Ian’s work has been a profound commitment to the important role of higher education. He upholds both the public responsibility of universities and the responsibility of our society to support the development, preservation and transmission of knowledge which universities undertake.”
Winners in other categories of the AFR Higher Education Awards will be announced at a gala dinner in Sydney on October 27 during the 2015 AFR Higher Education Summit, where Professor Chubb will deliver a keynote speech.
