Science and innovation vital to address climate future

Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley, has co-signed a statement with international science advisers reinforcing the need for action to address climate change, and emphasising that science and innovation will play a continuing and essential role in our future.

Dr Foley joins science advisers from across the international community – including Canada, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Seychelles, UK, USA and the EU.

“The need for climate action is urgent and international collaboration will be crucial if we are to address this challenge,” said Dr Foley.

“Working together on research and innovation will result in the accelerated application of existing technological solutions and the development of new ones.”

“Uniting as a scientific community sends a vital message and affirms our support for the next steps to limit global warming,” she said.
