In May 2015, the Government developed a set of Science and Research Priorities, and corresponding Practical Research Challenges. These priorities were designed to guide a proportion of its research investment to areas of criticalneed and national importance.

Today, the Government has released a set of capability statements against the nine Science and Research Priorities. These statements assess Australia’s current research strengths in the priority areas and assess opportunities for co-ordinated action.
