New ANU Vice-Chancellor

Professor Chubb has issued a media release congratulating Professor Brian Schmidt on his appointment as the next Vice-Chancellor of the ANU.

Professor Ian Chubb, Australia’s Chief Scientist and former Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University, has congratulated Professor Brian Schmidt on his appointment as the next Vice-Chancellor of the ANU.

Professor Chubb said it was an important appointment for the university, and a great choice had been made.

“I am certain Professor Schmidt will provide the leadership and vision that is so important to the ANU,” Professor Chubb said.

“He brings a wealth of scientific achievements as well as experience that will help him succeed in this position – and inspire those around him.

“That same wealth of achievement and vision will be a valuable contribution and source of inspiration to Australian education and research.

“I congratulate Professor Schmidt on his appointment. And I wish him well in these ever changing times.”

Professor Chubb was the Vice-Chancellor of the ANU from 2001 to 2011.
