"A common vision for Australian science": Dr Cathy Foley on ABC RN's Science Show
Earlier this month, Dr Cathy Foley appeared on the ABC's Radio National Science Show outlining her vision for her role as Australia's Chief Scientist.
Dr Foley told Robyn Williams that a main focus would be looking at how the science and research system can work together as a whole.
"If you look at each of the different silos, they are all incredible, they all do what they think are the right things for some goodness for Australia. But I think where we are not at our best is joining them up to show how they integrate across and have common language, common vision, and realise that they are actually all trying to achieve the same outcome."
Dr Foley also spoke about putting science at the heart of policymaking, and translating Australia’s world-leading research into future industries.
