Summertime Science
This summer, the Chief Scientist is encouraging all Australians to share the joy of hands-on science with the young people in their lives through the Summertime Science activities.
“Summertime Science demonstrates how simple and easy it is to enjoy science at home,” Dr Finkel said. “Everyone can get involved.”
Throughout January, science stars like Professor Emma Johnston, ABC’s Nate Byrne, Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith and Dr Karl will be joining in on the Summertime Science activities, and you can too!
To take part, all you need to do is take a photo or video of yourself enjoying a simple science experiment with your favourite budding scientist, such as your child, a niece or nephew or a family friend. Then simply post it along with the #SummertimeScience hashtag and tag our Twitter handle (@ScienceChiefAu) or Facebook page (@chiefscientist).
If you’re looking for inspiration, head to Questacon’s YouTube channel and website, where you’ll find a range of fun and engaging science activities that can be done with simple household materials.
“Join us for some Summertime Science, and help spark the curiosity of the budding scientist in your life,” Dr Finkel said.
